Greens Norton News
| Editorial Policy. The main purpose of the News is to tell people what is happening in our villages. We welcome short, informative items about forthcoming events and ongoing activities. Regular contributors should note that if there is nothing new to say about your organisation in a given month, we will always include contact names and numbers. But it does not just have to be "news"; poems, short stories or reflections about life and living in our region are also welcome. The newsletter is an independent community publication that does not seek to promote any particular political or religious viewpoint. It is not an "official voice" of the villages, nor of any of the organisations within the villages. It is non-profit making and the team that is involved in its publication, are all unpaid volunteers. Contributors are asked to keep articles short - 400 to 500 words fills a whole page. The editorial team reserves the right to amend or omit articles which are overlong, or which may cause personal offence to anyone. Any major changes, where practicable, will usually be referred to the author. Articles reflecting a personal viewpoint expressed in a positive manner, are particularly invited from any local resident on any issue. We will not however publish letters to third parties. We also require the name and address of any contributor, even if you wish the details to be withheld for publication. In all cases the News team disclaims all responsibility for the opinions and statements expressed by contributors. How To Submit Material To The News Electronically. Send it as an email to Amanda Jones at: greensnortonnews@tiscali.co.uk It is safer to send your contribution as the actual email, rather than as a formatted attachment. (If you have used a wordprocessing program, simply 'copy and paste' the whole text into your email.) If you are submitting material as a formatted document please remember that the News has an A5 format in 2-columns. Most word processors default to A4 format, so anything you write that takes a whole page width in your document, will have to be reformatted. Please do not spend large amounts of time formatting your text with tab stops, tables, clipart and other embellishments - those will all have to be stripped out. It is far better send plain text, with a comment e.g. - "could this be presented in a table?" to give an idea of what you might like us to try to do. Ready-printed Hard Copy Material. We can scan printed pages, artwork and photographs providing they are of excellent quality and unfolded. Original photographs and other digital illustrations are welcome. Please submit images in their original format as JPGs or TIFFs, at a resolution of 300 dpi or greater. Please do not send images as part of an MSWord file. If your pictures contain people, please ensure that they have consented to their images being published. If you encounter a problem with preparing material for the News, call Martin Tolley on 07947 176175 or email him at amt_publishing-greensnorton@yahoo.co.uk |
