| Silverstone Gardening Club | Silverstone Gardening Club continues its varied programme of activities into 2010 with regular monthly meetings usually held on the last Monday of the month at 7.30pm in the Church Rooms. We have a very interesting list of speakers arranged and new members are always welcome. A reminder to existing members that subscriptions are now due remaining at £3 single and £5 double and should be delivered to our Membership Secretary, Ruth Reddall at 2, Walnut Close, Silverstone. Some time ago our long-serving Treasurer Geoff Lidgard suggested that we should consider putting on an event to raise money for an agreed charity totally funded by the Gardening Club with all the proceeds going to the charity. Sadly Geoff died before we could act on his suggestion but now with the agreement of our members we are going ahead to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Consequently we have planned an evening with the well-known gardening expert Helen Yemm who writes the “Thorny Problems” page for the Daily Telegraph. This will take place on Thursday,15th April at 7.30pm at the SRA and tickets costing £10 will include light refreshments. More details of this will be posted around the village a little nearer the time. Please reserve the date as we know, whether or not you are a member of the Gardening Club, you will want to support this most worthwhile cause. We will also be organising a printed ticket raffle with tickets on sale prior to the event as well as on the evening and all the money we receive from this as well as the total ticket money will be given to Cancer Research UK.
